‘Five-month absence’ KDB injures again ahead of A-League match

It’s been a tough season for Kevin De Bruyne.

European soccer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on social media on Thursday that “Der Bruyne has been ruled out of the Belgium squad due to a minor groin injury. He played in the last game with a minor groin problem,” he reported.

Earlier, De Bruyne had been left out of Belgium’s squad announced ahead of their matches against Ireland and England. “Yesterday I spoke with the doctor about De Bruyne and we decided that the risk was too great and it’s better to give him time to recover well at Manchester City and prepare him for the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament,” explained Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco.

Belgian and ‘world class’ De Bruyne. Not only is he one of the most skilled midfielders in the world, but he’s also one of the core backbones of City’s defense. Since joining City in 2015-16, he’s amassed a whopping 98 goals and 161 assists in 366 appearances. The Brazilian has led the league in assists four times.

This season, he returned to the field after nearly half a year away due to a long-term injury, and his form has never been better. In just 14 appearances in 2023-24, De Bruyne managed two goals and 12 assists for an offensive point. Even when he came off the bench to rest, he was still able to create exquisite chances and contribute to his team’s victories.

In the last game, he was unhappy with his unexpected substitution. Der Bruyne started against Liverpool and 사설토토 provided an assist for John Stones’ goal in the 23rd minute. However, with the score at 1-1 and Ederson unable to play due to injury, Pep Guardiola brought on Julian Alvarez in the 24th minute and brought on Mateo Kovacic and Jeremy Dockoo in addition to Der Bruyne. A furious De Bruyne was seen explaining to Guardiola why he had left him off the bench.

De Bruyne is the captain of the Belgium national team. He has scored 26 goals in 99 appearances since his first call-up in 2010. He was first ruled out of the March A match due to injury. He will also miss the upcoming FA Cup quarterfinal against Newcastle.
